Each year, Seattle Met assembles a list of the best dental practitioners in the Seattle metropolitan area, as evaluated by their peers. Across the Puget Sound and across specialties ranging from general dentistry to oral surgery to orthodontics, the list helps patients find professionals who can make their smile its best self.

The 2026 list is excerpted from the topDentists database, which includes listings for more than 900 dentists and specialists in the Seattle metro area. The list is based on thousands of detailed evaluations of dentists and professionals by their peers. The complete database is available at www.usatopdentists.com.

How the selection process works

The foundation of the selection process is a simple, peer-driven question: “If you had a patient in need of a dentist, which dentist would you refer them to?” Thousands of dentists are asked to consider years of experience, continuing education, manner with patients, use of new techniques and technologies, and physical results when evaluating nominees.

The nomination pool includes dentists listed online with the American Dental Association and all dentists listed online with their local dental societies. Dentists can also nominate colleagues they believe should be included. Respondents are asked to set aside personal bias and evaluate nominees based only on their knowledge of their peers’ work.

Once balloting is completed, scores are compiled and averaged. The numerical average required for inclusion varies by specialty and geographic area. Borderline cases are reviewed carefully by editors, with voting characteristics, comments, past awards, and status in dental academies taken into consideration. Finalists are then checked against state dental boards to confirm an active license and good standing.
